Equipment

  • Medium Bowl
  • Spoon or Whisk
  • Mason Jar or Airtight Glass Container

Ingredients

  • cup Mayonnaise full-fat for the best texture!
  • cup Hickory BBQ Sauce Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory and Brown Sugar works great!
  • 1 teaspoon Brown Mustard more if you're feeling particularly mustard-y
  • ½ teaspoon Honey adds that touch of sweetness
  • ½ teaspoon Chipotle Powder the secret weapon for smoky depth
  • ¼ teaspoon Smoked Paprika because you can never have too much smoky goodness

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, hickory BBQ sauce, brown mustard, honey, chipotle powder, and smoked paprika. Mix until everything is well combined.
  • Spoon the sauce into a Mason jar or any other airtight glass container. (Just a heads up, this will stain plastic, so glass is your best bet!)
  • Refrigerate for at least two hours (or more!) to let the flavors meld and intensify. Patience is a virtue, especially when it comes to flavor.
  • Serve with your favorite dippers – fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets, veggies… the world is your campfire sauce oyster!

Notes

Chill the sauce for at least two hours for the best flavor.
Use glass containers to avoid staining.
Avoid aluminum containers or foil.
Some folks like to substitute Ranch dressing for half the mayonnaise. If you're feeling adventurous, give it a try!
If you can't find chipotle powder, use chili powder or Tabasco sauce to taste. Adjust to your heat tolerance!
Turn it into tartar sauce by adding about ¼ cup of sweet pickle relish.
Thin it down with a little milk for a killer thousand island dressing.
